Undulating rows of colorful cotton thread are wrapped and woven with pajón, a native grass to Guatemala and longleaf pine needles to create the Juana Basket. Our artisan partners love color and designed this shallow basket to coordinate with the colorful table linens woven by Mayan Hands weavers in a nearby community. Available in two colorways, Multi-Color or Purples, to coordinate with our placemats and table runners.
- Pajón, pine needle, cotton thread, raffia
- 10.5" diameter x 1.25" high
While each Mayan Hands group has its own story and personality, there are some things that they all share. They live in rural areas, in adobe houses, have outhouses, running water in the pila (outdoor concrete sink used for everything), and electricity. In many ways that means they are in better shape than the poorest of the poor here. But they are no longer in that category because of their work with Mayan Hands.
