The Black Pagoda Lipstick Plant (Aeschynanthus longicaulis or Aeschynanthus marmoratus) is a striking trailing tropical houseplant prized for its heavily mottled, succulent-like leaves and unique tubular flowers.
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Protect it from harsh, direct midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water: Allow the top quarter to half of the soil to dry out between waterings. You can use the "taco test"—gently squeeze a mature leaf; if it bends easily without snapping, it is ready for water. Avoid letting the plant sit in soggy soil.
Soil: Prefers a loose, coarse, and well-draining potting mix. A blend formulated for epiphytic plants or a mix featuring perlite, orchid bark, and coco coir works best.
Temperature & Humidity: Keep in warm indoor environments between 60°F and 85°F. It appreciates higher humidity levels, though it adapts well to average household conditions.
