This uniquely styled spice serving bowl is hand carved from wild olive wood by Kamba carvers in Kenya. A beautiful tree prized for its richly grained wood, wild olive is legally sourced by carving cooperatives from protected lands. To utilize the entire tree, artisans carve large and small pieces, from salad bowls down to spice spoons and heart keepsakes.

Sold as a set that includes the spice bowl and three spoons. Bowl and spoons include batik dyed bone inlay.

Kenyan artisans hand carve unique serving trays from beautifully grained wild olive wood. Each tray features three wells for spices. Includes 3 spoons.

Because this is a handcrafted item made from a natural material, slight variations in grain or coloration are to be expected.

We believe that hardworking African artisans, producers and export agents hold the key to their own personal success, and that the path to success requires a steady, committed pace. Swahili extends each artisan's channel of trade from local markets to the global marketplace, all the while providing artisans with options to work from the comfort of their own homes and communities. Secure in the knowledge that the fair payment they receive will not be reduced by traveling expenses, childcare costs and haggled prices, most artisans in the Swahili network promote their family's future by using earnings to put food on the table and pay educational expenses for their children.
